"Increasing Innovation Through Positive Taboos"
Mind Play, January 1995, Volume 2, Issue 1

Summary:
If an organization wants to establish a value for innovation, what non-supportive behaviors must be expelled?  While taboos will be different for each organization, there are nine dimensions of the innovative environment which provide guidance for the establishment of taboos.  These nine dimensions are based on the pioneering work of Goran Ekvall of Sweden and consist of:

Challenge

Freedom

Idea Support

Idea Time

Openness and Trust

Playfulness and Humor

Debates on the Issues

Interpersonal Conflict
